Updating ranch style house
Selected homes were submitted by members of the Dwell community through our new feature, Add a Home. Architect and Interior Design: Richard Brown Architect, Location: Yamhill, Oregon The sloping site of this two-bedroom ranch home provides views through an oak savanna and the coastal mountain range.
A bar-shaped plan maximizes daylight and natural ventilation, giving the homeowner efficient "modern ranch" living in the heart of Yamhill County wine country.
It may be things that need to be repaired, replaced or completely remodeled.
My neighborhood always starts to buzz with contractor traffic and landscapers once the weather breaks.
Spring is also the start of a very busy season for home buyers.
Some prefer to buy a fixer upper and remodel it to their taste.
Never underestimate what shutters can do for a home! The front entrance also adds character and architectural detail with the red door and addition of the wood overhang. The roof line changed with the new gables, the windows were replaced and some of the brick were covered with stone. By adding columns and creating a porch with larger windows to match the doorway, this home looks totally different.
Personally, I love to see creative minds at work and one of my favorites is to see what updates can be done to an older home to make it more attractive and inviting from the outside.Sometimes seeing before and after remodeling pictures can spark interest in upgrading your own home.
